When Betty Anne Waters' old brother Kenny is arrested for murder and sentenced to life in 1983, Betty Anne, a Massachusetts wife and mother of twodedicates her life to overturning the murder conviction. Betty Anne places herself during school, college and, finally, law faculty in a 18 year pursuit to free Kenny. By using best friend Abra Rice, Betty Anne pores throughout questionable evidence mounted by small town cop Nancy Taylor retracing the steps that led to Kenny's arrest. Belief in her brother - and also her pursuit for the truth - compels her team and Betty Anne to find the facts and utilize DNA signs with the hope of exonerating Kenny.
